Supply of Personnel - New Build Vessel
The Atair is a research vessel, which was built in Germany. It commenced service in 2020. The LNG-powered vessel conduct hydrographic surveys and wreck operations, as well as marine environmental observations in the North Sea and the Baltic Sea.
As part of the vessel construction project, RockSalt Subsea supplied a team of electrical technicians with an offshore background that fitted in with the client’s requirement for skilled personnel on short notice. Our flexible approach meant the team size varied as needed throughout the six month period of the contract, rising to around ten technicians who worked closely with the main installation contractor to co-ordinate installation activities in the pre-defined workscope. Our team provided electrical supervision and inspection support and assisted the QHSE personnel during pre-start-up inspections and commissioning activities.
RockSalt were able to rise to the challenge of providing additional personnel at short notice, because we have a deep and diverse portfolio of skilled personnel with experience across a range of technical domains. RockSalt handled all of the logistics required in mobilisation of the personnel and tooling meaning within a given day rate. This gave the client an easy commercial set-up with minimal administration burden.
“RockSalt provided us with a team of skilled electrical technicians during a critical phase of installation. The experience of the personnel working under our Site Management team helped ensure a controlled installation process in line with the scheduling. Our Site Management team also found a strong improvement on overall quality control with the technicians providing the first completion inspections meaning that fewer punch items were raised during customer inspections. In addition, we utilised a RockSalt technician on a longer-term basis within our QHSE team with very positive effect to our site activities both in terms of safety on the job as well as overall installation quality, especially in relation to ATEX equipment.”
